Initially the Diamond State Conference was home to the larger Sussex County schools, and one Kent County School (Middletown) up until 1969-1970 school year, prior to the School Consolidation Act. This saw schools of similar geographic locations consolidate into one school. The conference was reborn in 2007, featuring charter and private schools in New Castle. [1]
