Varsity Sanctioning

Hawaii was the first state to sanction Girls Wrestling at a high school level in 1998. Texas joined in during 1999, with Washington (2007) and California (2011) becoming the third and fourth state to sanction it as a varsity sport. In 2018, the sport began seeing rapid growth across the nation.
